On July 28th, Boom Films partnered with the Parisian architectural rock-star agency Guilluame Ramillien sarl d’architecture and the Paris-based full-service photo studio chain Studio Delos to create the first annual Apéro Intergalactique.

With an aim to mix cocktails with architects, science-fiction enthusiasts and professionals, photographers and extraterrestrials, the Apéro Intergalactique featured three drawing competitions in which semi-saturated earthlings and aliens sat side-by-side drawing and designing all manner of interplanetary craft.

The competition was judged by visiting artist and drawing powerhouse Devlin Shea, fresh from her degree show at UCL, Slade School of Fine Art. Ms. Shea’s participation was scheduled in neatly before she departs for an artist residency at the Academy of Visual Arts HKBU in Hong Kong and a group show at the Wuhan Art Museum of Wuhan, China. Ms. Shea was assisted with her duties on the jury by Nina Cahill.

The evening’s drawings varied in tone and intensity as the participants ruminated on our fundamental conceptions of space-ships and space stations.
